Gettin’ Matchy With It

I’m not usually known for being matchy-matchy, or for matching at all according to some.  But, when I was gifted this vintage necklace this weekend (thanks, Mom!) I knew I was going to match the heck out of it:

 And match it, I did: 

I’d actually already planned on pairing these emerald cords (Lucky Brand via Marshall’s) with my bright blue sweater (thrifted via Goodwill) and velvet flats (Old Navy).  Adding the necklace and some gold bangles (Nordstrom) just seemed like the right, if obvious, choice.

But, don’t worry.  Tomorrow I’ll be back in a color combination that makes no sense to anyone.

Hello, Sunshine

We had a beautiful day here in Oregon today.  The past couple days haven’t been cold, but they’ve been overcast.  Today was both warm and sunny.  It made me happy.  And a little cheesy, if this photo is any indication:

Yeah, I don’t even know.

What I do know is that I love this outfit and I wish it had photographed even a little better:

I wasn’t sure which shoes to pair with the combination of mocha skirt (vintage via Goodwill) and yellow sweater (Gap), but I think I really, really like the houndstooth flats (Old Navy via Goodwill) with it.  Yes, I basically like houndstooth with everything, but this look just reinforces that.

Also, you see that lady-tie?  It’s a new lady-tie I found when searching for a lady-tie for my girl, Ally.  I love it because it pairs well with my mocha skirt but it also makes me laugh because it’s a lady-tie printed with lady-ties: 

If that’s not some sartorial hilarity, I don’t know what is.

Slightly Sweater Obsessed

Although I have reduced my shopping (yes, even my thrifting) quite a bit, I can’t seem to stop buying sweaters.  Like this one:

I guess you could say that I’m slightly sweater obsessed.

The good news is that I really love the sweaters I buy.  And today’s sweater is no exception:

I just think this sweater is so cool.  I love the pattern and I even like the subdued colors.  But, the best part is that the front and the back are different:

Yes, that’s right, I look awesome both coming and going. 

Because this sweater (nic + zoe via Nordstrom Rack) is so interesting, I kept the rest of the outfit fairly simple, pairing it with black skinny jeans (a.n.a via JC Penny) and houndstooth flats (Old Navy via Goodwill).  The addition of the houndstooth being, of course, the difference between simpleand fairly simple.

So, yes, I probably do need to stop buying sweaters.  But this one was less than $20 at Nordstrom Rack and it usually retails for $130.00.  Surely no one expects me to pass up a sweater when it’s both cool and inexpensive.  Right?

Secretly Awesome

This sweater has a gold, snake print up the front, like it was slithered on by a giant, gold covered anaconda.  It’s pretty cool, but you can’t really see it in these photos:

Guess you’re just going to have to take my word for it.  Because heaven forbid I actually take a photo that shows detail.

In addition to my secretly awesome sweater (a.n.a via JC Penney), I also wore my very favorite pleated skirt (thrifted via Goodwill), tights (Hue via Nordstrom Rack), boots (Vince Camuto via Nordstrom) and my new favorite scarf (Betsey Johnson via Nordstrom).

I just realized that I wear an awful lot of snake.  I wonder if that means the Sorting Hat will put me in Slytherin when Hogwarts finally calls.  I hope not!

Peach and a Polka Dot Lady-Tie

This sweater is peach:

It looks pink.  Oh well.

Not that that there would be anything wrong with pink, but I swear it’s peach.   And I did pair my peach sweater (thrifted via Goodwill) with a polka dot lady-tie (thrifted silk via St. Vincent de Paul).  I also wore a houndstooth skirt (thrifted via Goodwill) and added cream tights (Target) and pointed-toe booties (Luxury Rebel “Yuma” via Piperlime).

I have to say, I feel all soft and fuzzy in this outfit, what with the subdued hues and the fluffy hair:

Especially in comparison to yesterday’s look.  Soft and fuzzy wasn’t necessarily my intention with today’s look (I don't think I had one outside of warmth and minimal drying time), but, I guess I’ll take it.
