Hello Dearest, Darling Reader Friends! Happy Monday!
I have a lovely surprise for you. Well, I guess if you read the title of this post it's not a surprise, but I think you'll agree that it's still lovely. So, what is this non-secret bit of loveliness? I am hosting a Shabby Apple giveaway!
Shabby Apple is an online dress boutique that specializes in vintage and retro dresses. And they're offering one lucky Fashion for Giants reader a $50.00 gift card to purchase any item they want.
And how do you win this gift card to have and to hold and to spend on wonderful goodies? First, you need to like Shabby Apple on Facebook and follow Fashion for Giants on either GFC or Bloglovin (see the sidebar).
Second, you need to go to the Shabby Apple site and choose your favorite item. Here are some of my favorites:
I love this print beyond all reason. It looks like the upholstery on grandma's sofa in the best possible way.
Lace is back and in a big way. This dress is a lovely way to wear the trend. Also, the color may just be the perfect pink.
Vertical stripes and a bottom with a high waist? Yes, please.
After you've found your favorites, leave me a comment telling me what name you "liked" Shabby Apple under, how you're following along with Fashion for Giants and what you favorite Shabby Apple item is.
And, that's it. Some liking, some following and one comments, easy peasy. And I'm giving you until Thursday night to get your comments in.
Now for the fine print for you fine ladies. Unfortunately, this giveaway is only open to readers with a US shipping address. Sorry, International Peeps.
Good luck, All!

Short Pants, Tall Shoes
I'm really feeling this combination of loose, short pants, preferably printed and high-waisted, paired with a shorter top and tall shoes:
I might need to tweak the pieces a bit, but I feel like this is a silhouette I'll be wearing a lot this summer. I guess it could use a bit more definition at the waist, but I don't know that I really want it. I am trying to figure out how to wear looser pieces. And even though this isn't quite right, I think it's the direction I want to go.
Happy Friday, All!

For Your Feet
Shoe retailer, Ros Hommerson, is closing down their online site and have marked everything down to 50% off. That includes their shoes, boots and sandals.
Why am I telling you? Because their motto is "We have your size." They carry shoes from size 4 to size 13 in widths from super slim to extra wide in most sizes.
So, if mama has hard-to-fit feet, but needs a new pair of shoes, go take a peek.

Oh, and a special thank you to the ladies at The Junoesque for the heads-up!

Coral, Coral, Coral
I really love myself some coral. Obviously:
Coral yesterday, coral today. Coral, coral, coral.
I also, apparently, really love the combination of those pants with those shoes. Heh. Well, what can I say, I can’t be creative all the time. Or, even most of the time, if I’m honest.

But, I digress. I was talking about my apparent obsession with coral. In spite of what it looks like, I'm not actually obsessed with coral. But it is one of my favorite colors and I do wear it quite a bit. I especially like this particular coral (blouse via Old Navy) and peach (vintage blazer via Goodwill) color combination. Worn today with dark skinny jeans (Banana Republic), a barely seen leopard belt (v. old) and cap toe wedges (bandolino via DSW). Oh, and a long necklace (thrifted via Goodwill).
And, because at least two items in this look are thrifted, I’m linking up to Thrifter Thursday over at Coffee and Cardigans. I’m pretty proud of myself for remembering to do this as I’ve forgotten for weeks.
Happy Thursday, All!

Sea Foam, Not Mint
Last year I railed against gross, institutional mint green as a trending color. This year I still just can't with mint green. But, I can with sea foam. And I did, with this necklace (Onyx Phoenix necklace, via BaubleBar):
Yes, that's sea foam, not mint. How can I tell? Because mint is gross and this isn't. Really though, sea foam has more blue to it than mint; it's like a greenish aqua. Although, maybe this is just aqua...
Oh, well, whether sea foam or aqua, I wore it today:
And I wore it with coral ankle-zip skinnies (Gap), a gray sweater (Nordstrom) and silver and gray flats (Target, v. old).
Happy Wednesday, All!

Stiff Weirdness
You see this sweater?
I love this sweater like no one’s business. But, I’ll be damned if I can figure out how to wear it. It’s just sort of stiff and a weird length and possibly too big. But, it’s also multi-textured hearts and that makes me love it in spite of it’s stiff weirdness. Sadly, love doesn’t turn one into a styling genius, so this happened:
I mean, I guess it’s not terrible. But, it’s not right either. I think the proportions are just too off. Not off in that cool way that jostles the eye but still allows it to continue it’s journey along the lines of the outfit. No, off in the bad way where your eye basically gets slapped in the face and you have to look away to prevent further damage.

Bam! Like a slap to your eye face. |
So, obviously, I need some help. How would you style this sweater, Dearest Reader Friends?

For the Birds: Inspiration Monday
For those of you who don't know, the lovely ladies of Two Birds have a link-up every Monday of looks inspired by celebrity outfits. This is January Jones and she is today's inspiration:
I don't usually participate in Inspiration Monday because I forget and/or don't have the right pieces and am not creative enough to make it work with the pieces I do have. Today though, I had everything I needed; leather, denim and lace. Oh, and bitchface:
Okay, it's not the epic bitchface of January Jones, it's more like the suggestion of bitchface or like I'm thinking really hard, but it's the best I could do on the face.
And this was the best I could do on the clothes:
Instead of being all sad-faced that I didn't have similar pieces, I used the pieces I had in similar fabrics. My lace (sans the black bra (next time though, next time)) is my lace sweatshirt (Macy's). My denim is jeans (Old Navy Mid-Waist Rockstar Skinnies) instead of a jacket. And my leather is just the boots (Luxury Rebel via Piperlime) instead of pants and boots.
And, frankly, I think I nailed it:
Happy Monday, All! And thank you to Two Birds for hosting and January Jones for inspiring!
